Bassid [Groningen/Netherlands]

At the age of 18, after a short teenage career in bands playing piano, Bas van Driel aka Bassid started to develop skills in digital productions such as techno, acid, trance and ambient. During the next two years he got interested in the doof-sound of psytrance and decided to incorporate his native piano playing and compositional skills with newly acquired production techniques and insights fed by the artists of the days. This grew into a very entertaining live performer, sometimes playing the keys live on synths, or at other times bouncing up and down creating ever new sequences of his material into Ableton live-sets. In 2002 he got noticed by the (at that time unknown) Danish label Crotus Records which started out anew and needed some fresh sounds for their first outlets. Bassid was one of those (actually THE) first outlets, and produced the “Rise & Shine” 12 EP. In 2007 his sound got the attention of the current creators of Arkona Creation Music & Art Label.
